Membership Policy
A plain-language explanation of how membership works under the constitution.
1. Categories of membership
Ordinary members. Any well-intentioned Kashmiri Bains Rajput, aged at least eighteen, who supports the aims and objectives of the foundation may be an ordinary member. Spouses of ordinary members are automatically ordinary members as well.
Associate members. Dependent children and dependent parents of ordinary members are associate members. Associate members do not have voting rights and cannot sit on the Executive Committee, but otherwise enjoy the privileges of the foundation. Associate membership is not transferable.
Website interest categories. The website's application form also offers Youth Volunteer Interest, Professional Volunteer, Community Supporter and Local Chapter Interest. These help the foundation understand how you would like to be involved; they are not additional constitutional membership classes and do not carry voting rights.
2. Activation, oath and verification
Under the constitution, a member activates their membership status by attending a ceremony and taking the membership oath in the presence of the President or a person nominated by the President. The Executive Committee may request information for the record, may verify information provided, and reserves the right to scrutinise any membership at any time. The word "member", alone or with another term, indicates an active member only.
3. Applications through this website
Submitting the online application form does not automatically confirm membership. Applications may be reviewed and verified according to the constitution and membership procedures, and the Executive Committee may decline membership after verification without explaining its reasons, as the constitution provides.
4. Minimum age and young people
Ordinary membership applicants must normally be at least 18 years old. Applicants under 18 are invited to submit a Youth Volunteer Interest instead; the website form applies this automatically based on the date of birth entered. Youth Volunteer Interest is not full constitutional voting membership.
5. Duration and staying active
Membership is lifelong unless withdrawn by the member or suspended or terminated by the foundation. To remain active, a member must attend at least two meetings each year; otherwise membership is treated as withdrawn under the constitution.
6. Suspension and termination
A member whose presence is considered disruptive to the organisation may be suspended or terminated. Suspension or termination requires a two-thirds majority of the Executive Committee.
7. Local chapter membership
Members associate with the local chapter of their area, normally in the same state or an immediately neighbouring state as the chapter's registered operation. Members who relocate and wish to change chapters report the change to the Executive Committee. Chapter membership applications are processed by the Executive Committee on the official membership form.
8. Data handling
Personal information in membership applications is handled according to the Privacy Policy and is never published publicly.
9. The constitution prevails
This policy is a summary for convenience. The official Constitution of Bains Rajput Foundation is the authoritative document, and if anything in this summary differs from the constitution, the constitution prevails. Read it on the Constitution page.
